500 million. That is the current number of people worldwide suffering from hearing loss. This number is predicted to increase by one third per generation over the coming century. 

Most people with hearing loss are over the age of 50, but around 8 out of every 100 people with hearing loss are under the age of 18.

Our company

Oticon designs and manufactures both hearing aids for adults and special solutions for children.

Oticon employ more than 3.000 people around the world. Our products are sold through sales offices in 24 countries and some 80 independent distributors worldwide.

Our many specialised employees work within four core focus areas: Audiology, Technology, Counselling & Fitting and Business Support. Besides that we have 1200+ people in sales and service functions around the globe.

Product and Technology Development
At our headquarters we have 900 employees at Kongebakken, Denmark, including nearly 350 Product and Technology Development specialists.

Eriksholm Research Centre, our own research facility dedicated to pursuing audiological discoveries with the potential to provide significantly enhanced end-user benefits in future hearing care.

An award-winning production facility in Thisted, Denmark, employing almost 380 people. 400 people at Oticon Polska Production, including 60 specialised software engineers.

1000 users

Test panels, end-user visits, in-depth interviews and focus groups are some of the most important research tools we use to gather information about users’ needs and everyday lives.

Our test-user panel includes more than 1,000 users, and a group of test-users are attached to each product development cycle, and are involved from the analysis phase, right through to product testing.

Our products and services

Each year, Oticon invests a substantial proportion of annual sales and turnover into research and development activities.

We were the first in the world to develop: a fully digital hearing aid, a fully automatic hearing aid, and a hearing aid with artificial intelligence. Our most recent solution is Alta, which is Oticon’s most sophisticated hearing aid to date.

Oticon supports all products with a selection of interactive multi-media materials to guide and assist the professionals dealing with our products, and the people using our hearing care solutions.

Our results

Oticon is today amongst the two largest providers of hearing care solutions. Since 1991, we have won well over 20 awards for corporate and developmental achievements.

Financial result 2014

As a part of William Demant Holding, Oticon is listed on NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen. Despite the challenging financial environment, William Demant Holding has been able to declare a turnover of DKK 9.346 billion and an operating profit of DKK 1.761 billion in the Annual Report of 2014.
