Previous Audio Explorers in New York

The first year of the Audio Explorers competition was in 2016, when the country’s brightest 25 engineering students flew to New York.

What did former Audio Explorers get to do?

In August 2019, our Audio Explorers had a packed schedule. Their four days of activities included a visit to a top hi-tech company, an interesting introduction to how Urban Ears measures sounds around the city, and noise data collection throughout New York.

  • Itinerary

  • Collection of noise data throughout New York
  • Insightful tour at Oticon Inc. in New Jersey
  • Workshop with representative form Syntiant – a leading company within deep learning
  • Engineering game in Central Park
  • Visiting some of New York's greatest sights

Rich and unique soundscapes on the streets of New York

Times Square was full of unique sights and sounds!

We took a few liberties here and there

New York was just the beginning…

Becoming part of the Audio Explorers Alumni network is a great way to meet new people with common professional interests. We see the Audio Explorers Alumni as an important platform for sharing knowledge, events, and opportunities, and networking with new and future friends and contacts. That's why we organize several interesting events for the winners during the year.

Oticon’s previous student activities

Before Audio Explorers, we had Music Forever at Roskilde Festival. For seven years in a row, more than 50 engineering students measured the sound levels at the various stages, in collaboration with the festival’s organisers. All the data we collected was used by Roskilde Festival to optimize the concert experiences.
