At Oticon we acknowledge the intricate and critical responsibilities you have as paediatric audiologists in tying together the right intervention with the practical needs of children with hearing loss and their families. To guide you we have made Paediatric Oticon Counselling – a flexible, interactive toolbox that helps you to build trust and loyalty by facilitating an engaging counselling process with children with hearing loss and their parents.

Full of child-friendly, easy-to-explain tools - Oticon Counselling engages and motivates children and parents to take responsibility for the hearing loss, and to understand how to work together to achieve the desired results.

Meeting individual needs

Oticon Counselling accommodates the individual needs of two user groups; Adults and Paediatrics. For the paediatric user group, Oticon Counselling allows you to support children primarily aged 4-12 and their parents.

Intuitive and motivating tools

Finding your way round Paediatric Oticon Counselling is very easy and intuitive. With 7 tools to choose from you can create your own agenda and customise consultations to meet the child's and parents' personal needs.

We make hearing aid fittings easier

Child friendly hearing care goes beyond the development of paediatric products and into the realm of fitting software. This is because the fitting protocol for children typically differs from that used with adults.

In a paediatric fitting, audiologists may be working with audiometric data of varying formats, special fitting rationales, different assumptions on how automatic features should be set and a different approach to verification.

To support paediatric audiologists in their daily work, we developed Genie’s paediatric fitting mode.

The paediatric fitting mode in Oticon’s Genie software addresses the needs of children with hearing loss – and the professionals taking care of them.

Give children the opportunity to develop their language

To make it easier to fit children and teens up to the age of 16, we have introduced a more flexible way of handling paediatric default settings in Genie.

Easy-to-use default settings

For children aged 0-3 years, Directionality and Noise Management are set to OFF. For children aged 4-16 years, Directionality and Noise Management are set to ON.

The hearing aids’ push button is disabled for all paediatric fittings – meaning that the volume control is OFF and only one program is prescribed.

These default settings can be easily altered to suit your personal preferences.

Developed through thorough research

DSL v5.0a m[i/o] is the paediatric fitting standard developed at the University of Western Ontario. Supported by years of research evidence and paediatric fitting experience, we believe DSL v5.0a m[i/o] is the most child-friendly fitting rationale available. It keeps speech cues audible and comfortable in all situations to give children every opportunity to develop their language and communication skills.

This latest version of DSL is based on feedback from children and research studies. It supports the potential offered by today’s advanced hearing instruments and helps hearing care professionals fit increasingly younger children.

Child-friendly wireless technology

Stable, reliable wireless programming and fine-tuning.

FittingLINK is Oticon’s wireless programming device for Oticon wireless hearing aids. Simple to set up with our Genie fitting software, FittingLINK is compatible with Oticon Sensei, Oticon Safari and a wide range of other wireless hearing aids.

FittingLINK is worn around the neck during programming. Depending on the child’s age and ability to provide feedback on sound quality, FittingLINK can improve the fitting process by offering a cable free fitting.

FittingLINK provides fast and reliable data connection between your NOAH-enabled PC and the child’s hearing aids. Simply connect FittingLINK to your PC and place the neck loop on the child to start the programming session.

Designed for your workday

FittingLINK and Genie provide you with a variety of tools to guide you through the fitting process. This ensures that you achieve an accurate fit, in line with published best practice guidelines.

Real-ear verification and fine-tuning

Depending on the child’s age or ability to cooperate, you can use FittingLINK for real-ear verification or for fine-tuning during follow-up appointments.

Coupler-based verification

Coupler-based verification is recommended for infants and young children not old enough for real-ear verification.

EasyRECD™ individual ear acoustics

Developed as an option for Oticon Sensei hearing aids, EasyRECD™ allows you to easily account for individual ear acoustics when fitting infants and children, without needing to use separate real-ear equipment. The easyRECD™ also works with FittingLINK providing cable free verification.

A suite of insight-based materials to support you in your practice

Oticon paediatric counselling tools are made to support you in the dialogue with parents, children and relatives. Moreover, we offer plenty of material for parents to children of all ages with hearing loss.
